NBA on ESPN Announcers For 2023-24 Season

NBA on ESPN Announcers are Mike Breen, Ryan Ruocco, Mark Jones, and Dave Pasch. Doc Rivers and Doris Burke will join Breen as an analyst for big games.

NBA 2023-2024 will be starting from 24th October 2023 with the games being broadcast all over the United States and world by several sports networks.

Being close to the opening day of the season, ESPN, considered one of the leading sports networks recently announced its broadcasting team for leading the entire NBA 2023-24 season on 14th August 2023.

The network welcomes the NBA Champion Head coach Doc Rivers joined by Burke and Breen to form the new leading broadcasting team.

The trio will be supported by reporter Lisa Salters and will be calling the NBA Finals, Eastern Conference finals, NBA Playoffs, Christmas Day, and NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC series.

The team will be debuting on the opening day of NBA coverage in 24th October.

  • Mike Breen ( Lead Play-by-Play)

Mike Breen is the leading voice for the NBA on ESPN and ABC, including the NBA Finals and Saturday Primetime on ABC.

Breen joined ESPN in 2003, where he debuted with Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy, and has been with the team since then.

He won the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Curt Gowdy Media Award in 2020.

Before ESPN, he had 12 seasons of NBA play-by-play experience for NBC and the Knicks for New York's Madison Square Garden television and radio network.

  • Ryan Ruocco ( Play-By-Play)

Ryan Ruocco is primarily a play-by-play announcer for ESPN's NBA coverage.

He has also been serving as the commentator for the network's WNBA coverage since 2013. He joined ESPN in 2008.

His resume also includes play-by-play duties in NFL on ESPN Radio, college football, and ESPN's television networks. 

Adding to his ESPN duties, Ruocco is a long-time serving commentator for Yes Network and is the primary play-by-play commentator for the Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees in MLB.

He earned New York Emmy nominations in 2015,2017,2018, and 2019 for his Yankees and Nets coverage on Yes.

As of 2023, he will be seen on the commentary box alongside JJ Redick and Richard Jefferson in the NBA.

  • Doris Burke ( NBA Analyst)

Doris Burke will become the first woman to serve as TV analyst for the NBA Championship.

She was named to the broadcasting team as an analyst alongside Doc Rivers. They will be teamed up by the lead play-by-play announcer Mike Breen. 

Burke is a Hall of Fame broadcaster and is one of the nation's leading commentators. She has covered basketball for three decades to date. 

In 2020, she became the first woman to work as an analyst for the NBA finals and provided commentary on ESPN Radio. 

Her works with ESPN include NBA, Women's and Men's college basketball, and the WNBA coverage. Doris also has served as the lead sideline reporter for the NBA Finals on ABC.

She has been covering basketball for this network since 1991 and has won several individual awards on the way.

  • Richard Jefferson ( NBA Analyst)

Richard Jefferson has been with ESPN since 2019 as an analyst. He is a former player and an NBA Champion.

He previously was involved in multiple platforms, including NBA Today, NBA Countdown, First Take, Sports Center, and Hoops Streams.

Before joining the broadcasting career, Jefferson spent 17 years in the NBA and was a versatile defender on the court. He led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA Championship in franchise history.

He played for eight teams throughout his career before retiring after the 2017-2018 season. 

He has now been working as the game analyst for NBA on ESPN.

ESPN NBA Halftime Show Hosts

ESPN halftime show hosts are Malika Andrews, Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Smith, Wilbon, and Wojnarowski will all be returning to the show for the upcoming season alongside Andrews. Wojnarowski also works as the senior NBA insider for the team. 

Malika Andrews 

Malika will be the permanent host of all the NBA Countdown Shows including the NBA finals pregame and halftime shows.

She is a journalist, an NBA Reporter, and a host of the halftime shows and pregame shows on ESPN.

Andrews made her debut as a sideline reporter during the 2019-2020 season throughout the NBA playoffs making her the youngest ever to serve on a Conference finals telecast.

Before joining ESPN, she worked for a year as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and the James Reston Reporting Fellow, sports department at The New York Times.

As of 2023-2024, she will be leading the permanent hosts for the NBA talk shows at halftime and the pregame broadcasts. She will also continue to host NBA Today in addition to her new role.

She further will be assisted by analysts Richard Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins, Chiney Ogwumike, and senior writers Zach Lowe and Ramona Shelburne. On selective dates, Ogwumike will serve as host as she did in the previous season.

ESPN Courtside Reporters

ESPN Courtside Reporters are Lisa Salters, Cassidy Hubbarth, Monica McNutt, Katie George, Rosalyn Gold-Onwude, and Jorge Sedano.

Salters will be assisting the Burke and Breen team providing all the courtside updates and information including player interviews as the lead broadcasting team.

Lisa Salters is a versatile and Emmy award-winning reporter with more than 30 years of experience.

She works as the sideline reporter for two of ESPN's biggest properties, the NFL's Monday Night Football and NBA games on ESPN and ABC.

Salters recently won the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards in ( Outstanding Personality/Reporter category) in May 2023.

She has been part of NBA coverage since 2005 which includes her high profile NBA Saturday primetime and NBA Sunday showcase games.

In 2017, Lisa set a rare feat of working on an NBA game in NY in the afternoon followed by a prime-time MNF game in Philadelphia.

She first joined ESPN as a general assignment reporter in March 2000 and has been there with the team since then. 

NBA On ESPN TV Schedule 2023-24

ESPN TV Schedule 2023-24 starts with the doubleheader game on 25th October between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.

The opening week also includes one of the first draft picks of the NBA 2023 event, Victor Wembanyama's debut for San Antonio Spurs as they host Dallas Mavericks on Friday, 27th October.
