Kentucky Guards In NBA List 2023-24 Season

NBA Kentucky guards include De'Aaron Fox, Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray and B.J. Boston Jr

The basketball team representing the University of Kentucky has had 138 players drafted in the NBA since 1947, with 60 players in the opening round.

Exercising the draft lottery to determine the first four picks, every NBA seeks to add their young firepower through the draft every year.

Some of the other drafted Kentucky NBA players include Chris Livingston, Shaedon Sharpe, Tyrese Maxey, and Kevin Fox.

To join as an NBA player, the player must be eligible matching the essential criteria by the National Basketball Association to get listed in the draft.

One of the key Kentucky players to join the NBA is the most dominated and two-time NBA All-Star player and center, Bam Adebayo.

1. De'Aaron Fox

Kentucky point Guard De'Aaron Fox is a 6 feet 3 inches player drafted by the Kings in 2017.

Fox was selected as the fifth overall drafted player by the Kings from Kentucky Wildcats.

He further forgoes his final three years of collegiate eligibility to enter the 2017 draft while he was at the end of his freshman season.

In NBA, De'Aaron had his peak performance in the previous 2022-2023 season where he had a breakout season winning NBA All-Star induction, All-NBA Third Team, and the NBA Clutch of the Year.

In 2023, he played 73 regular season games with a .512 Field goal percentage including 4.2 rebounds, 6.1 Assists, 1.1 steals, and .3 blocks per game.

On February 24, Fox secured his season-high 42 points including 12 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals in a 176–175 double overtime win over the LA Clippers which was counted the second-highest-scoring game in NBA history.

2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Kentucky point guard 2018, Shai Gilgeous is a Canadian player drafted by the Charlotte Hornets as the 11th overall pick.

SGA has played only one year in collegiate basketball and was drafted in 2018 by the Hornets followed by a trade to the LA Clippers the same night.

He played only one season with the Clippers where he recorded his season-best of 24 points in a 127-131 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Gilgeous joined Thunders in 2019 and has been there now for almost five years as a trade swap with Danilo Gallinari. He recorded his first NBA triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists, and 20 rebounds during the victory over Minnesota Timberwolves by a 117-104 score.

He was included in his first NBA All-Star call-up, All-NBA first team, and All-FIBA World Cup team following his dominant performance in the 2022-2023 season.

3. Tyrese Maxey

Former Kentucky basketball player, Tyrese Maxey currently plays as shooting guard and point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers.

He is a Dallas-born player who was a five-star recruit during his early high school times for Texas High School.

Maxey later joined Kentucky where he set a school record of 26 points in his debut game. He got drafted as the 21st overall pick by the 76ers and has been there with the team since 2020.

His playing time was limited with the team during his rookie season but gained his first starting point guard position in the 2021-2022 season. Tyrese averaged 16.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in his first 51 regular season games.

Later in the 2022-2023 season, he was shifted to his original shooting guard position where he recorded his career-high 44 points including 12 3-pointer attempts in a 112-90 win over the Toronto Raptors.

He ended his third season with 20.3 average points per game with 43.4% from the 3-pointer range.

4. Immanuel Quickley

Immanuel Quickley is a 6 foot 2 inches point guard and plays for the New York Knicks.

He was drafted by the Knicks in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2020 but got traded to the Knicks later on 20th November 2020.

Quickley played for Kentucky for two years from 2018 to 2020 where he won SEC Player of the Year and also got selected in SEC First Team.

As a Knicks guard, he had played a total of 223 games and started 27 of them with 21 the previous season.

Immanuel had his better 2023-2023 where he averaged 28.9 minutes per game with a .448 field goal percentage, 4.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 14.9 points per game.

He now has a year left in his contract with the Knicks and is eligible to sign a contract extension since 1st July 2023.

5. TyTy Washington Jr.

Bucks point guard Ty Ty Washington Jr. is a former Kentucky player who was drafted in 2022 by the Memphis Grizzlies.

He currently plays for the Bucks as a point guard and recently signed an NBA G league contract with the Wisconsin Herd. 

Washington Jr. was considered one of the best NBA players from Kentucky from the 2021 class and a five-star recruit.

Though he was selected by the Grizzlies in the draft he got traded to the Timberwolves on draft night for Jake LaRavia followed by the second trade to the Houston Rockets. 

He played in preseason for the Rockets in 2022 where he scored 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in a 134-96 win over San Antonio Spurs.

Later, Ty Ty was traded to the Atlanta Hawks followed by the second trade to the City Thunders on 12th July. 

On 29th August 2023, the 6'3" point guard from Kentucky signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

6. B. J. Boston Jr.

Boston Jr. is one of the University of Kentucky NBA players who has been associated with the LA Clippers since 2021.

Brandon Elliot Boston Jr. also called B.J. currently plays as a shooting guard and a small forward for the Clippers.

Memphis Grizzlies drafted him in the 2021 draft in the second round as the 51st overall pick but was traded to the Clippers through the New Orleans Pelicans.

He played his first season with the Clipper's G League affiliate team Agua Caliente Clippers and helped them to win the G League Winter Showcase championship in 2022.

Brandon also won the Showcase Cup MVP title due to his 21 points in the final game.

7. Devin Booker

Devin Booker is a former Kentucky shooting guard who now plays for Phoenix Suns in NBA. 

He was picked by the Phoenix Suns in the first round as the 13th overall pick in 2015 and has been with the team since then.

With the Suns, he became the youngest player to score more than 60 points in a game at the age of 20 with 70 against the Boston Celtics in 2017.

In 2019, Booker became the youngest player in the NBA to secure 50 points in consecutive games in NBA history.

His NBA career highlights include 3 times NBA All-Star selections, induction into All- NBA First Team, NBA All-Rookie First Team, and the Three-point Context Champion in 2018.

8. Tyler Herro

Tyler Herro is one of the current NBA players from Kentucky and plays for the Miami Heat as a shooting guard.

He was selected by Miami in the first round of the 2019 Draft as the 13th overall pick and has been playing since then.

The 23 aged shooting guard made his first NBA debut on 23rd October 2019 in a win over the Grizzlies where he secured 14 points including 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist.

On 23rd October 2021, Herro recorded 30 points and 10 rebounds as a substitute on the bench in a 102-91 loss to the Indiana Pacers making him the first Heat player to record that foot.

Tyler signed a 4 year $130 million contract extension on 2nd October 2022 keeping him till 2026 with the Heat.

9. Johnny Juzang

Kentucky players in the NBA 2023 include Johny Juzang who plays as a shooting guard for the Utah Jazz.

He is on a two-way contract playing for the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League. The player was undrafted in the 2022 draft but played for Utah in the 2022 NBA Summer League.

Juzang debuted in a 102-94 loss to San Antonio Spurs on 28th February 2023 where he scored only 3 points.

Later he signed another two-way contract with the Jazz on 19th July 2023.

10. Jamal Murray

Jamal Murray is a Denver Nuggest point guard and a former shooting guard for the Kentucky basketball team.

He played only one season with the Wildcats before entering into the draft in 2016. Murray was selected by the Nuggets as the 7th Overall pick.

In the title-winning year with the Nuggets, Jamal has been the key player in the team as he averaged 21.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 10 assists per game in the Finals joining Michael Jordan and Lebron James in the list of players in NBA history to achieve the feat in NBA finals series.

Along with Nikola Jovic, he kept up 26 points and 10 assists in a 104-93 win over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA finals.

With the new season approaching he is one of the key players to look out for in 2023-2024 season.
