WNBA Finals viewership 2023 averaged 728,000 viewers in all the games. The viewership increased by 36% compared to the 2022 season.

The 2023 WNBA season is considered the 27th season of the Women's National Basketball Association where the two teams Aces and Liberty reached the finals. 

The 2023 WNBA finals delivered the record-breaking viewership over the years including its attendance and digital engagement. 

Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty are competing against each other in the finals this season with the Aces winning the series by 3-1 in Game 4.

The game viewership across all the national television partners including ESPN, CBS, ABC, AND ESPN 2 exploded by 21% compared to the 2022 season. 

The attendance also averaged 6615 fans per game which saw a growth of 16% in 2023 compared to last year. 

The total attendance recorded to date was 1,587,488 which was the highest total attendance in the 13 years of WNBA history.

WNBA finals game 4 reached its peak at 1.3 million viewers averaging 889k viewers. It was a 124% increase from the 2022 Finals Game 4 viewers.

The Aces took Game 1 on Sunday defeating the Liberty by 99-82 and the contest raised impressive numbers regarding the viewership.

The game was considered one of the most viewed WNBA Finals game 1 ever on ESPN and its networks. 

The series opener on Tuesday produced the highest WNBA finals ratings ever for a Game 1 on ESPN Network.

Following the Game 2 WNBA finals, the Aces won the second game in their home arena by 104-76 in a fully sold-out capacity. 

The Game 4 which was the winning game for the Aces saw 889,000 viewers and even peaked at 1.3 million viewers becoming the most watched finals in 20 years. 

The entire 2023 finals were presented by Youtube TV and ESPN averaging 728,000 becoming the most watched finals of the WNBA in 20 years and being 36% up from 2022

The finals saw the ABC averaging 505k viewers with an increase of 8% percent compared to the last season. 

In 2022, the number of viewers on the WNBA Finals on ESPN was 534,000, whereas they were 559,000 in 2021.

WNBA Finals Attendance

WNBA Finals attendance recorded 10,300 fans on Game 1 at Barclays Center, the home of New York Liberty. Approx. 12000 fans were at Game 2 at Michlehob Ultra Arena.

WNBA finals game 1 saw several attendance and viewership records in the last decades being broken. The game was at the Barclays Arena, where the Liberty hosted the Aces in their first game of the best of 5 series. 

The Aces defeated the Liberty by a 99-82 score and led the series 1-0 after Game 1. The game saw basketball legends Lebron James and Sheryl Swoopes among the attendees among the 10,300.

In the previous season, Las Vegas Aces tickets were all sold out during Game 1 of the finals 2022, setting a new attendance record of 10,135.

Compared to the past season, the attendance has grown by 1.6% in this season's final Game 1.

For Game 2, the Aces hosted the Liberty in a fully soldout Ultra Arena on 11th October 2023 where they won by 104-76 score leading the series by 2-0.

The capacity that the Michlelob holds is 12000 fans.

WNBA Viewership Regular Season

WNBA Viewership regular season reached over 36 million total viewers across all its national networks, the highest since 2008.

The increase in viewership was 27% compared to the 2022 season. The regular season also recorded an average of 627,000 viewers, considered the highest in 11 years on ABC. 

Similarly, the combined viewership for the WNBA season across all the ESPN Networks and the CBS Networks increased by 21% compared to the previous season. 

The previous season saw 505,000 viewers on average across the three sports networks.

This WNBA season has broken records in its viewership being the most watched regular season in the last 21 years. 

Besides its viewership, it also set new rights across digital platforms, social media engagement, and sports betting. 

During the All-Star game on ABC, it peaked at 955,000 viewers, averaging 850,000 viewers, the highest in 16 years.

The total attendance was also the highest in 13 years, 1,587,488, with an average attendance of 6,615 fans per game. 

The defending champions, Las Vegas Aces, who are one step away from winning their second consecutive title this season saw the highest increase in average attendance of 66% resulting in 9,551 fans per game.

Their highest crowd attendance was against the Phoenix Mercury where the crowd was 17,406 on 10th September in the regular season.

Will there be Game 5 in the 2023 WNBA Finals?

Game 5 in the 2023 WNBA Finals didn't happen as the Aces clinched the title in Game 4 of the finals.

The Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty reached the finals of the 2023 WNBA season and are competing in the best of 5 series. 

The series' first two games have already taken place with the second one happening on 11th October 2023. The Aces defeated the Liberty in both games with the second game ending with a 104-76 win. 

Liberty came back from the defeat in Game 3 to reduce the lead to make it 2-1.

The next game will take place on Wednesday, 18th October 2023. Liberty will try to make it two out of two wins in a row to make it to Game 5 of the finals. Currently, they are behind by 2-1 after winning their third game by 87-73.

But after the Aces won Game 4, they won their consecutive second title in 2023. They lost their third game despite dominant performances in Game 1 and 2.

In Game 2, AJ Wilson of the Aces led the point chart, grabbing 26 points with a 26-15 double-double. Other key performers were J. Young, Kelsey Plum, and Chelsea Gray. 

For Liberty, Jonquel Jones was the standout performer with 22 points, including 10 rebounds. Brianna Stewart, and Betnijah Laney each had 14 and 12 points, with Stewart claiming 13 rebounds.

Liberty tried to comeback in the later stages but came short by a point losing them the title after the score ended on 70-69 in Game 4.
