Tyler Hansbrough Parents Led A Busy Life In Kentucky While Raising Three Athletic Sons

Tyler Hansbrough parents Gene and Tami Hansbrough led a busy life raising three athletic kids. Gene is an Orthopedic surgeon while Tami is a former teacher and funds consultant. 

Raising the athletic kids, they were delighted with the successful careers of all three boys, especially Tyler and Ben who became famous NBA players. Although they led busy life because of their profession, they were always there for their sons.

The Hansbrough couple were significantly involved in Tyler's career, attending many games and traveling miles to see him play. However, Tami has fewer pictures with her son compared to Gene.

His attendance at the NCAA tournament and the emotional moment of congratulating his son after he become a champion was a beautiful moment.

While they were married for around twenty years, it is still a mystery when the Hansbrough couple decided to separate. Tyler's Wikipedia bio mentions that they are already divorced.

Meanwhile, Gene has been remarried since April 2019 as witnessed in his Facebook profile.

Father Gene Hansbrough Is A Former College Basketball Coach

Tyler has inherited his passion from Gene with his history in teaching basketball. Before becoming an Orthopedic surgeon, Gene used to coach at North Carolina University. 

After graduating, he began working as a surgeon at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Gene has established a solid reputation as one of the best in the industry possessing an in-depth understanding of orthopedic surgery, particularly in the fields of arthroscopy and sports medicine.

Gene attended many of Tyler's games while he was a University of North Carolina student. He used to help Tyler improve his game and offer constructive criticism.

The coach father has laid down the foundation for the bright career of his sons Tyler and Ben by teaching them all the fundamentals.

As a personal trainer, Gene also assisted the NBA stars in gaining the strength and conditioning needed to compete at the top level. He constantly offered advice and encouragement and pushed them to be the greatest player they could be.

After separating from Tami, senior Hansbrough married his second wife DeKarla Vick Hansbrough as confirmed from his Facebook profile.

Tyler Mother Tami Is A Mentor At Womens Leadership Council

Tami Hansbrough-Kupec is a Board member SIU Womens Leadership Council. Tami used to work at UNC as a fundraiser before resigning in 2012.

As per her LinkedIn, Tamara is a Non-Profit Fundraising Consultant and a proven mentor with a leadership experience of more than twenty years as a professional.

She has had more than 12 years of experience in domestic and international nonprofit fundraising. She is a committed leader in the philanthropic sector.

Tami has experience working as a significant donations officer and annual fund director at the UNC School of Dentistry. She actively participated in the Dental Sciences Building Campaign, which helped generate more than $150 million.

Alongside her profession, she was a doting mother who instilled values and life lessons in her children. She had always supported the athletic passion of her boys. 

She would often take her sons to the local playground to play basketball, and it was there that Tyler fell in love with the game.

Tyler is the middle child with two other siblings in the family. The older brother Greg Hansbrough is a track and running athlete while junior Ben Hansbrough is a basketball player like him.

Although Greg is not as famous as the other two, he has been an inspiration for the two young ones. Tyler and Ben credit him as the inspiration for their athleticism.

After conquering his courageous fight against a brain tumor when he was seven, he became an athlete against doctors' recommendations. He had led his high school cross-country team as a captain and lettered in basketball in his early years. By 2011, he had run three marathons and thirteen half-marathons making his family proud of his achievements. 

Greg currently resides in Durham, North Carolina, working independently as a motivational speaker and author. From July 23, 2019, to December 1, 2019, he served as a middle school science instructor at G.C. Hawley Middle School in Creedmoor, North Carolina.

Prior to that, from August 23, 2018, to January 2019, he taught science at Lucas Middle School in Durham, North Carolina. Building a respectable career despite his liabilities, Greg always pushed his siblings to the extreme and was a role model for the Hansbroughs. Everyone in the family loves Greg and are constantly visiting him.

Ben Hansbrough Is A Basketball Player

Ben followed in the footsteps of Tyler to become a professional basketball player. However, Ben left his sporting career in 2017 after resigning as a WKU coach.

After being Undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft, he played five seasons at various international clubs before retiring in 2015. Later, he joined WKU as a player coordinator and was promoted to assistant coach in 2017, but he resigned on the same season.  

Ben has not been as successful in basketball as his brother Tyler, so his career has changed. He was a member of the Delaware 87ers, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and the Springfield Armor. Additionally, the Basketball athlete has performed in Germany, Turkey, and Belgium.

According to Ben's Facebook, he is married to Loryn Hansbrough. The couple has two babies together. 

Currently, Ben is running a Real Estate Develeopment company called Oliver and Hansbrough Development LLC situated in Alvaton, Kentucky.  

Tyler Hansbrough girlfriend Brighton Smith dated each other throughout their college life. Tyler and Brighton got married in 2015.

The couple had planned the wedding ceremony on the University of North Carolina property, close to Old Well. The college sweethearts have already separated even though neither of the ex-lovers has revealed why they split.

Tyler dated another woman named Savita Senthil after his divorce. The couple had first connected in the early 2021s and had dated briefly before breaking up the same year.
