There are a total of eight female NBA referees on the officiating staff for the 2023-2024 season. 

One of the leading women who have made remarkable strides in the professional NBA as a ref is Violet Palmer. She is the first female NBA referee to officiate in the NBA league.

On October 31, 1997, Palmer became the first woman to officiate an NBA game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Vancouver Grizzlies.

In the past few years, women have also stepped up alongside men to get engaged in professional sports. In 2019, there were only four or five female referees to officiate in the NBA but as the years progressed it has reached 8 in numbers.

She is in her ninth season as a female NBA referee in this 2023-24 season. In her past eight seasons, she has officiated 314 regular season games as an NBA official staff.

Holtkamp joined the NBA as a referee in 2014 and has been with the NBA since then.

She is expected to earn approximately at least $250,000 without any bonus payments tied in the league.

Before joining the NBA team, she officiated six seasons in the NBA G League and four seasons in the WNBA including the 2013 and 2014 NBA G League finals and the 2014 WNBA Conference finals.

She also refereed various FIBA competitions, including the 2010 World University Games and the 2012 and 2013 FIBA AmeriCup.

Ashley Moyer Gleich

NBA referee Ashley Moyer-Gleich is a full-time NBA official and earns approximately $300,000 per annum.

She was promoted to an official referee in 2018. She was one of the four female referees when she tied up with the NBA in the 2018-19 season and became the fourth to join the League history.

Moyer has been a key figure in numerous high-profile NBA matches including the playoffs and the NBA All-Star game in 2020.

In May 2021, she made the headline when her infectious grin at Luka Donic's response from Dallas Mavericks while innocently flirting with her.

She has officiated over 120 regular season NBA games since joining the league. She made her official debut in a regular season game between the Indiana Pacers and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

As of 2023-24, she is in her fifth season in the NBA and will officiate the 2023-24 regular season matches.

Natalie Sago

Natalie Sago is in her fifth season as an NBA official referee. She has officiated 171 games so far till the 2022-23 season.

She might be earning around an estimated salary of $300,000 to $500,000 annually. A newly joined NBA referee earns around $250,000.

Her performance and years of experience have led her to a growing career becoming one of the recognized figures in the NBA.

Sago was promoted to a full-time member of the NBA officiating staff on 15 November 2018. 

With a net worth of around $5 million, he is considered one of the richest NBA referees and has established himself as a significant icon in the basketball world. 

Natalie became the fifth female to join the NBA as a full-time referee. Before joining the NBA, she also officiated in the NBA Gatorade League and the WNBA for three seasons. 

The 34 year old will be seen on the court with her #8 jersey number following the 2023-2024 season as the one among the eight female counterparts this season.

Jenna Schroeder

Jenna Schroeder NBA referee is in her second season with the NBA officiating team.

She has officiated three seasons in the NBA G League and two seasons in the WNBA before joining the NBA.

She has seven years of collegiate officiating experience working in ACC, Big East, Atlantic 10, and American conferences.

In 2021, Jenna and her teammate Natalie Sago created history as they became the first female NBA referees to officiate in the same game when the Charlotte Hornets faced the Orlando Magic.

She was one of the two female referees alongside Sago from the five-person officiating team.

As far as her salary is concerned, she might be earning around $250,000 to $350,000 annually as she is in her second season following the 2023-24 season.

Sha'rae Mitchell

Sha'rae Mitchell is also in her first season as the NBA female ref for 2023-2024.

She has refereed 11 regular games as a nonstaff official during the 2022-2023 season and four games in the 2021-22 season.

Before joining the NBA, she officiated five seasons in the G League and two seasons in the WNBA including one year of playoff assignments.

Besides the NBA, Mitchell has five years of officiating experience in college basketball with assignments in Pac 12, Big Sky, and Western Athletic Conferences.

She became the 15th woman in NBA history to referee a regular season game on 12th January 2022.

As far as the NBA entry-level referees are concerned, she may also be earning around $200,000 to $275,000 annually.

Danielle Scott

Danielle Scott was promoted to the NBA officiating team in the 2021-22 season. She is in her third season as an NBA referee following the 2023-24 season.

Scott has officiated 33 regular season games in her first season as an official staff. She also refereed 26 regular games as a nonstaff during the 2020-21 season.

Before joining the NBA, her officiating experience included the 4 NBA G league seasons and the 2020 NBA All-Star celebrity game.

Besides, Scott has eight years of collegiate experience with stints in Mid Eastern Athletic, PacWest, and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

She graduated from Cal State Northridge in 2013, Her first officiating experience was refereeing the game with her mom in the men's recreational league.

She is expected to earn around a whopping estimated $200,000 to $325,000 annually.

Dannica Mosher

Dannica Mosher is in her first season as an NBA referee. She refereed 12 regular season games as a nonstaff in the 2021-2022 season.

Before joining the NBA, she officiated five seasons in the NBA G League and four seasons in the WNBA. In 2022 she worked both in the NBA G League finals and the 2022 WNBA Finals.

Mosher carries her eight years of collegiate officiating and five years of high school refereeing experience while joining the NBA.

As she is into her first season, she might be expected to earn around $250,000 or $600 per game as the rookie or entry-level referee earns.

She will be with Ashley Moyer and Lauren Holtkamp as her female counterparts in the team for the 2023-2024 season.

Simone Jelks

Simone Jelks is one of the eight female referees officiating in the 2023-24 season.

She is expected to earn around $180,000 to $,300,000 annually. She is in her 3rd season as an NBA official this season.

Simone has officiated in 34 regular season games within the two seasons as an NBA staff official. 

Jelks was promoted to full-time NBA referee status in 2019 as the seventh female referee on the staff roster. Before joining the NBA, she officiated four seasons in the NBA G League and the 2020 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. 

She also has 3 years of collegiate officiating experience along with the Mid-American Conference and Horizon League.

As an Ohio native, she used to play college basketball at the University of Southern California and was named to the 2007-08 Pac-12 All-Defensive team.
