When Does Big 3 Basketball Start? Big 3 basketball starts on 25 June 2023 at the United Centre Arena of Chicago and ends on 26 August 2023.

The 3-on-3 basketball league was founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz in 2017. The rules of the games are deviations of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

The league currently consists of 12 teams that compete for the Julius Erving Championship Trophy. Retired and international athletes can take part in the games.

Initially, the games were conducted for 8 weeks. In 2023, it was announced that the games will be conducted for ten weeks. The games will take place in the major states of the United States and the United Kingdom.

The organization is set to host an outdoor festival in New York on 9 July for 23,000 fans. It will be the sixth season of the Big 3 league and fans have high expectations from it.

Big 3 Basketball Schedule 2023

Big 3 Basketball Schedule 2023 reveals that the regular games will run from 25 June to 18 August. Playoffs and ASG plus championship games will happen next.

The league announced the timeline of the game in March 2023 via their official site. Moreover, the sixth season of the league is named Summer of Fire.

Big 3 basketball Chicago game marks the beginning of the 2023 season. Trilogy and Enemies will play the inaugural game on 25 June 2023.

The Timetable Of The Upcoming Season Was Announced In March 2023

Big 3 basketball Dallas game will begin on 1 July 2023. It features multiple thrilling matchups but the first one will be played by the Trilogy and the Triplets. 

The following games will be played in New York, Memphis, Miami, and Boston. The event details of the last four weeks are yet to be announced. Week 7 games will be hosted at the Spectrum Centre in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Big 3 basketball Detroit games mark the final week of the regular season. The matchups will be organized at the Little Ceasars Arena and it ends on 10 August 2023. The playoffs will take place from 19 August at the Capital One Area and the Championship at O2 Arena in London.

The events will be covered by the broadcasting partners CBS and Paramount Plus. Besides, the games can be watched via the official YouTube channel of the tournament. 

Big 3 Basketball Rosters

Big 3 Basketball Rosters comprise 60 players. Each team in the league has 5 members including a captain, two co-captains, and two other players.

The teams who have won the former championship can not change their roster or participate in the draft. Other teams keep their players in an eligible draft pool.

Big 3 Basketball players are selected via the draft on a lottery basis. In the two-round draft, every team can choose the potential players who can add value to the team.

Rashard formerly played in the NBA for 16 seasons. Standing at 6 feet 10 inches, the player is the winner of an NBA championship as well.

Reggie spent 13 seasons with seven franchises of the National Basketball Association. The 43-year-old missed the 2022 Big3 season due to an injury and looking forward to the current one.

Co-captain Kevin was a collegiate athlete at Tennessee Tech. He competed for a season with the NBA followed by multiple international tournaments.

3’s Company

Team captain Mario hails from Anchorage, Arkansas. The 6 feet 2 inches tall player was drafted in the 10-week league in 2019. He has formerly played in Europe and the G League.

Michael is the tallest in the team with a height of 6 feet 9 inches. He was with the NBA for 11 seasons. The athlete joined Cube's tournament in 2022 and he is ready for the upcoming season.

Kansas City native Brandon is the co-captain of 3's company and formerly the Aliens. He earned his first and only NBA championship trophy in 2015.

Serbian athlete Dusan made a Big3 debut as a rookie for Power. In the 2022 season, he swapped teams and became the Aliens' leader. He holds three FIBA 3-on-3 World Championship titles.

Kostja is a German basketball athlete known for his shooting skills. Since 2021, he is competing on behalf of the Mittledeutscher Basketball Club.

Tomislav became a part of the Aliens in 2022. With his experience in the FIBA, he impressed the fans that season. He will make a debut as a co-captain of the team in 2023.

Ball Hogs

Leandro is Brazilian and he played 13 seasons with the National Basketball Association. He debuted in the Big3 in 2021 but his lower leg injury put him off the hook in 2022.  

Hailing from Tennessee, Jodie is the co-captain of the Hogs. The 2019 NBA champion serves as the assistant coach of the NBA G League team Birmingham Squadron.

Canadian player Jeff formerly represented Bivouac. He will return this season as the co-captain of Hogs. The player currently plays with the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots of the P. League+.

Bivouac

Gerald stands at a height of 6 feet 6 inches and serves as the captain of the team. After spending 12 seasons in the NBA, he won the G-League Championship in 2022.

NBA champion Corey is a developmental coach for NBA's New Orleans Pelicans. He became a part of Bivouac in 2022 and he is set to return as a co-captain in 2023.

Born in Texas, Garlon competes in the Fos Provence Basket of the LNB Pro A. Drafted by the Tri-State in 2022, he switched the team halfway through the season. 

Enemies

Nick served as the captain of the Enemies for the past 2 seasons. He also played in the NBA for 12 seasons with six teams and secured an NBA championship.

Austin is the tallest one in the team standing at 7 feet 1 inches. He is a Baylor University alum who played in international leagues before being drafted for the Big 3 in 2019.

Small forward Elijah made his debut as the co-captain of the Enemies in 2021. He is in contract with the Napoli Basket of the Italian Lega Basketball Serie(LBA) since 2022.

Ghost Ballers

Milwaukee native Mike is a point guard who made one season appearance in the NBA. He is named the first NBA player who was drafted by the NBA D-League.

Chris represents Taipei Fubon Braves of the P. League+. He competed in 71 regular and 4 playoff games of the National Basketball Association with four franchises.

Jonathan was a player for the 3-Headed Hornets in 2022. The 33-year-old player spent 4 seasons in the NBA before going international. He plays for Shanxi Loongs of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

Killer 3’s

Franklin was promoted to the Killer 3's captaincy in 2021. He is a professional athlete who holds three Most Valuable Player awards from the Drew League. 

Green is a 35-year-old former NBA sportsman. He was drafted by the Grizzlies in 2008 but he played with the Sacramento Kings for four seasons.

Two-time NBA champion Josh is the co-captain of the Big3 team. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches, he competed with 7 teams in his 8 seasons-long NBA career.

Power

Cuttino joined Power as the co-captain in 2017 and got promoted to captain in 2021. The 47-year-old spent 11 years in the NBA before retiring from the league in 2008.

Akil is a power forward who formerly played college basketball at the University of Virginia. After being undrafted by NBA, he played in NBA G League and other international ones.

Drafted in the Big3 league in 2019, Royce hails from Minneapolis. Though he was drafted by the Houston Rockets of the NBA, his playing career in the league was brief.

Tri-State

Jason is the captain of the Tri-State since 2022. He was an NCAA champion with Michigan State. Moreover, Richardson was an NBA player for 13 seasons.

Justin is a 37-year-old player from Illinois. After representing the University of Washington, he competed in the NBA, EuroLeague, and other domestic leagues.

Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Deshawn plays for Dinamo Sassari of the LBA. He is the winner of the 2018 Israeli League Cup and 2022 Bosnian Cup.

Born on 21 October 1982, James serves as a coach for Sugarland Imperials. He gained victory over NBA Championship with the Spurs in 2007.

Earl won the first Big3 league championship with Trilogy. He has competed in the NBA, G-League, and other tournaments in China, Turkey, Spain, and Montenegro.

Amir is a 36-year-old athlete who competed in the NBA for 14 seasons. He secured the NBA Hustle Award in 2018 and last played for the NBA G League Ignite.

Triplets

Joe hails from Arkansas and has competed in the NBA for 17 seasons. He is the winner of the Big3 Most Value Player award of 2019 and 2021.

Drafted as a rookie in 2019 by the Big3, Jeremy is returning as the co-captain this season. He formerly competed in the NBA games for three seasons.

Jannero is a point guard who was with the NBA for 11 seasons. He is serving as the secondary captain of the Tripets since 2019. The 43-year-old is also the assistant coach of the Indiana Pacers.

Big 3 Basketball Salary Payout

Big 3 Basketball Salary Payout is about $10,000 per game without additional bonuses. A player can make roughly $100,000 in regular games.

The payment for the playoffs and the final championship differ from the regular one. The regular game last eight weeks while the other games last a week each.

The league is perfect for former NBA players who want to continue playing. The games are played for a short duration(10 weeks) which does not exhaust the players. 

It provides the excitement of playing the matchups along with financial security. According to SB Nation, the players also share half the revenue generated by the league.

The winners and runner-ups will get additional money for their performance. Due to the worthy payment, former basketball athletes are drawn to the Big 3 league.
