Cleveland Cavaliers TV Announcers And Commentators 2023-24

Cleveland Cavaliers TV announcers include John Michael, Austin Carr, Mike Fratello and Brad Daugherty. Michael has been with the club for 13 years.

Bally Sports holds the regional media rights of Cleveland. The franchise and the network company have partnered up to broadcast all of the 82 games for the 2023-24 season.

They will also be broadcasting the Cleveland Cavaliers live stream on their website. Subscription on Bally Sports+ is also another option for the viewers to watch the matches.

Previously named Fox Ohio, the company was established back in 1989 as a sports regional channel only for the viewers of Ohio. The network has since been airing the games of Cavaliers.

The pre-season game of the franchise started on the 11th of October 2023. Cleveland recorded their first loss for the season against Atlanta at a score of 108-107.

The Cavs will kickstart their NBA season following a trip to Barclays Center to face the Brooklyn Nets on October 25, 2023.

John Michael

Michael is the TV broadcaster for the franchise. He joined the club in October 2011.

However, he is not from a broadcasting background. In fact, he was an attorney before he joined the media industry back in 2000.

Initially, John started as a play-by-play announcer in baseball for the Hagerstown Suns. He later transitioned into ice hockey in the East Coast league.

Eventually, the Pennsylvania native started working for FOX Sports as their pregame host for the Blue Jackets of the NHL. He had joined the FOX back in 2009.

After joining the Cavaliers, the 51-year-old primarily worked as a radio announcer for the franchise. Later in September 2019, he was finally appointed for the TV broadcasting of the club.

Tim Alcorn

Alcorn is one of the Cleveland Cavaliers Radio network announcers. He joined the franchise back in 2019 after John was transferred to the TV station.

The 59-year-old is a graduate of Kent State University where he focused his studies in Telecommunications. He has experience of more than 30 years at WEOL.

In the radio station, he used to be a play-by-play announcer for the High school teams in Ohio. In addition to that, he was also responsible for hosting pregame and postgame sessions in the Cleveland Gladiators Arena Football League.

Tim is definitely one of the most experienced Cavs radio announcers in the club's history.

Austin Carr

Carr is a former NBA player for the franchise. He was with them from 1971 till 1981.

The retired shooting guard was the first overall pick for the club. Austin during his time in Cleveland was even listed in the 1974 NBA all-star team.

The 6-foot-4 ex-player concluded his professional career in 1981. However, he returned back to the sports after a decade-long gap.

In June 1991, he came back home to the franchise in their front office as a Director of Community and Business Development. Later in 1997, the Californian native was appointed as the color commentator for the club.

Austin started his announcer journey from 1998-99 season with the Fox Sports. He was accompanied by Matt Guokas on the panel.

He continued with Guokas until the 2003-04 season. Later after multiple changes in the partners from 2004 to 2006, he started solo casting the games.

He was the only commentator for the franchise from the 2006-07 season until the 2021-22 season. Recently in the past season of 2022-23, new members have been added to the studio.

Brad Daugherty

Daugherty is another former professional player in the franchise's broadcasting team. He had only played for the Cleveland in his whole career.

Starting his career in 1986, he played for a total of eleven years. The retired center of the club finally decided to hang his boots after the 1995-96 season.

Moreover on the 1st of March 1997, the Cavaliers gave farewell to their 5-time ALL-star player. He retired with no. 43 on his back.

After the end of his professional career, the former athlete Joined as a college basketball analyst and NASCAR broadcaster for NBC. He also partly owns a NASCAR team called the Liberty Racing.

However in 2014, he returned to sports as an analyst for college basketball and the NBA. Later during the 50th Anniversary of Cleveland in 2020 he too was invited.

Finally after much anticipation, Antonio joined the commentary panel of the Cavaliers for the 2022-23 season. Currently, he is a part-time NASCAR team co-owner and an announcer for the club.

Mike Fratello

Frantello is also a member of the commentator's panel for the franchise. He is an ex-NBA coach.

The 76-year-old was a former coach for the Cavaliers from 1993 to 1999. He was also nominated as the NBA coach of 1986.

With his retirement from the mentoring side of the game in 2014, he has entered the broadcasting side of the sports.

Initially, Mike started as a color analyst for the Clippers in 1990. He was also working with NBC as their commentator for the 1990-91 NBA season.

After some experience in the media field with many Network companies, Mike returned to his home as one of the Cavs announcers for the 2022-23 season.

Serena Winters

Winters is the 2022-23 sideline reporter for the franchise. She joined the club for the 2021-22 season.

Serena is a 2010 graduate of the University of California. She completed her studies in Communication, exercise, and sports studies.

Her broadcasting career took off from the college itself. She was hired as an intern by the Lakers for their TV network during her student days.

Later in 2012, she joined the Los Angeles team as their full-time employee. Bally Sports was the broadcasting partner of the franchise.

Eventually, in 2018, Serena decided to leave the club and joined NBC Sports as the co-host for the show called The Bridge. After spending three years with the network, she bid farewell to them in December of 2021.

Since her departure from NBC, she has been with the Cavaliers.

Angel Gray

Gray was one of the sideline reporters for the Cavaliers. She joined the club back in 2018.

The former Cavs correspondent had left the team after the 2021-22 season. In her Twitter, she exclaims that she was grateful for the support shown by Cleveland.

She added that she will be joining ESPN as their full-time reporter and was thankful to Bally Sports for providing her the opportunity in their network. She marked the end of her partnership with the franchise in the post.

Andre Knott

Knott is a former sideline reporter for Cleveland. He joined the network only for the 2021-22 NBA season.

The 5 Times Emmy winner left the calivers to join the Cleveland Indians from MLB. He is a contributor to the Fox 8 News in the sports genre.

Formerly called the Indians, the franchise began its 2022 season by changing its name to Cleveland Guardians. The update in name was made official on the 19th of November 2021.
