During their early season, like most NBA expansion teams, the Timberwolves struggled to make it into the playoffs for their first eight seasons. However, with the addition of Kevin Garnett in the NBA draft in 1995, the team made their first playoff appearance in 1997.

The team struggled to pass the first round in their initial seven attempts. However, they won their first division championship and advanced to the Conference Finals in 2004. The franchise continued to improve itself with the addition of players like Anthony Edwards, Kyle Anderson, and more.
